My own issues

I struggle. In a lot of issues in teaching but one particular thing I've been thinking about is sense of humor in the classroom. One time I tried to make it a goal with my administrator... She didn't love it. But I'm for real. I don't laugh very much with them not find humor in situations. I hate it. I love laughing and I'm pretty goofy in general. I hate that I can't transfer that to my classroom.

So I guess this will be my goal this year. I want to have jokes with my students, find more humor in situations and enjoy my time with my students. I leave so often feeling drained and wanting to quit.

But I know this is what I am supposed to be doing. So I am trying to find all the ways to make it better for myself.
-organization
-interactive notebooks?
-cute classroom
-and now humor!

I've spent all my money plus some...

I realized how close school is last weekend and I'm sort of freaking out. I had this past week, but Dal (my husband) had this week off so I couldn't do anything productive we could spend time together. Then next week, a week at girls camp, a half week and then I move in! Stress... Stress... Stress...

Anyway Dal was working on the backyard with his step-father and I didn't want to just hang out at home by myself, so I went shopping.

Dal got the first step in the backyard done... (Doesn't it look great?)

And I bought way too many things, and the list just keeps coming in my mind of things I absolutely NEED.

So this is the fabric for my bulletin boards. Yes I am doing all three. And yes when I was buying my brain stopped working and for my 8' bulletin board I got 2' of all... Which as it happens equals 6' not 8'.

So I bought this pearl burlap to go around the edge as border... because it's cute and mainly because it's thick!

Then I bought this burlap with lace to go in between the fabrics. (Once again in an effort to put enough stuff on my board so it will look decent.)

Then I bought these super cheap mason jars so I could put pencils in them...

And then I bought these chalkboard banner papers to make a chalkboard banner of all of their names, and maybe even pictures (If I remember to take those the first day)

This is a picture of all the stuff that I bought.

Well let's hope it all pays off. And that this year goes better because I am more prepared....

Pinterest Win!

So the "teacher toolbox" is all over Pinterest. I loved it immediately and wanted to do it. I am not always the best at actually sticking to my guns, so I was a little worried. Anyway we were at Lowe's so I went to find it. I didn't see it anywhere. In my mind this toolbox was going to be able to hold ALL of my extra supplies. It was going to be the answer to my headache. Then I had the worker help me find it. It's little. It won't hold pencils because it's only 6" deep. But I figure it will work for easy supplies finds and for my students to grab things they might need.

Anyway so this is what it first looks like.  (mine was blue)

Then I added the paper... I am trying to do a somewhat color theme this year. Like not a super theme just a simple color theme.

Then I added the labels. I wasn't going to do labels until I got into my classroom and saw what I had the most need for, but I have 4 days to move in... a.k.a. not enough time for projects that I can do now.

Anyway I am super proud of the way it looks! Yay!

The Start...

This is my blog of teaching stuff. I am going into my third year of teaching. I am teaching 4th Grade. I have taught 4th grade all three years. My student teaching was in 6th grade in Arizona where it is still part of elementary school. I loved it! If Vegas had 6th grade in Elementary I would teach it in a heart beat.

Well I will try to show things I am doing for my classroom, and things I am trying in my classroom.

We will see how this goes. I am a pretty terrible writer so don't expect much :)
